As cruising continues to gain popularity, cruise lines are in constant competition to get potential passengers onboard. While new ships are the shiny objects that grab the most attention (and headlines), the major lines are constantly innovating with new family-friendly adventures, high-end cultural journeys, ship deployments, and ports of call, too. If you’re considering a 2026 cruise vacation, here are the new experiences and itineraries everyone will be talking about in the year ahead.
Carnival Cruise Line
Carnival is embracing America’s 250th birthday with special sailings on 10 cruise ships departing from Florida, New York, and California. On the 4th of July itself, the ships will converge at sea (seven off the east coast and three off the west coast) for patriotic parties.
In other happenings, Carnival Luminosa will offer 10-day Alaska cruises for the first time from San Francisco (April through September), while the Carnival Jubilee, Dream, and Breeze will all sail from Galveston on new four-, six-, and eight-day itineraries to Mexico, the Bahamas, and Caribbean.
For those hoping to catch the total solar eclipse on August 12, Carnival Legend is offering an 11-day Carnival Journeys Eclipse cruise departing Dover, England, and calling upon France, Spain, and Portugal. On eclipse day, August 12, the ship will be at sea allowing for optimal placement for astronomical viewing.
Finally, Carnival’s private Bahamian island, Half Moon Cay, will be rebranded Relaxaway, Half Moon Cay, as it opens new welcome plazas on the North and South ends of a mile-long beach.
Cunard Cruise Line
In July, Cunard’s Queen Mary 2 will be joining the largest-ever flotilla of tall ships in New York City for the Sail4th 250 celebration of America’s independence. Other QM2 event cruises include London Theatre at Sea (May), Abbey Road at Sea (October), and a Literature Festival at Sea (November).
A new partnership with Harper’s Bazaar debuts on Queen Anne in July. The iconic fashion monthly will lead expert talks, programs, and fitness classes as Queen Anne sails through the Norwegian Fjords. Queen Elizabeth sails its final season in Alaska from May through September before repositioning to the Caribbean.
Finally, three Cunard Queens will position themselves in the path of totality for the August 12 solar eclipse. Queen Mary 2 will spend the night in Reykjavik, Iceland, allowing guests to view from the Scandinavian capital. Passengers on Queen Anne can watch from deck at sea off the coast of the Iberian Peninsula. And when Queen Victoria docks in Tarragona, Spain, on August 12, guests can sit on the steps of the Roman Amphitheatre Tarraco, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, to marvel at the celestial wonder.
Disney Cruise Line
After its maiden voyage in late 2025, the Disney Destiny will sail its first full season of cruises to the Caribbean and Bahamas from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. The Disney Magic offers its first season of Alaska cruises from Vancouver alongside its sister-ship the Disney Wonder, doubling Disney Cruise Line’s Alaska sailing capacity. Afterwards, both ships head to San Diego to homeport while cruising to Baja California and the Mexican Riviera.
When the Disney Dream takes its summer European vacation, she will make the inaugural call upon the port of Cagliari, on the island of Sardinia, Italy. This historic Mediterranean city is known for its cathedrals, architecture, and Roman amphitheater. Finally, the Disney Adventure becomes the eight ship of the Disney fleet, offering a lineup of three- and four-night cruises from the Marina Bay Cruise Centre in Singapore beginning in early March throughout 2026.
Holland America Line
Holland America launches “Legendary Voyages” in 2026 with longer itineraries that include solar eclipse cruises, Arctic Circle expeditions, and an extended European season to glimpse the Northern Lights.
In June, Noordam sails from Seattle through Canada’s Great Bear Rainforest and above the Arctic Circle for polar exploration. Two ships, Zuiderdam and Nieuw Statendam, offer Legendary Solar Eclipse Voyages, both spending August 12 at sea in Scandinavian waters for the best view of the total eclipse. Both Nieuw Statendam and Rotterdam spend an additional six weeks in Europe sailing to Norway chasing auroras in November.
Finally, Holland America offers a commemorative seven-day “America’s 250th Celebration: Stars and Stripes Sailing” departing Boston late on July 4 in order to position the ship in Boston Harbor for the city’s fireworks. This Stars and Stripes cruise on the Zuiderdam calls upon ports that played a role in U.S. history, such as Norfolk, Virginia, where passengers can visit Yorktown, site of the final battle of the American Revolution, and spend overnight in New York City to tour its Revolutionary War sites.
MSC Cruises
This is the first year MSC will be offering Alaska cruises. MSC Poesia heads to the land of the midnight sun in May 2026 with week-long, round-trip sailings from Seattle. The inaugural seven-night itineraries includes Ketchikan, Icy Strait Point, Tracy Arm Fjord, Juneau, and Victoria, British Columbia. To prepare for the Alaska season, the MSC Poesia has undergone upgrades including the addition of the MSC Yacht Club, Butcher’s Cut and Kaito Sushi Bar speciality restaurants, All-Stars Sports Bar, a remodeled spa, and an enhanced gym.
MSC Cruises further expand its fleet when MSC World Asia debuts in the Mediterranean in November 2026. MSC World Asia will be the third “World Class” ship joining the MSC World America and MSC World Europa.
Norwegian Cruise Line
Norwegian’s private Bahamian island, Great Stirrup Cay, receives its glow-up with the opening of Great Life Lagoon. The 1.4-acre lagoon will feature a heated pool, Splash Harbor for younger children, Vibe Shore Club for adults, and a new pier allowing guests to walk right onto the island. Later this summer, Great Stirrup Cay will open Great Tides Waterpark with 19 slides, an 800-foot river, 9,000-square-foot kids splash zone, and Cliffside Cove. The Cliffside Cove attraction will allow guests, for the first time, to jump off 10- or 15-foot tall cliffs into the water. The island will also feature jet karts, an aquatic race course where guests ride mini boats similar to a combo go-kart/jet-ski.
In addition to the private-island enhancements, Norwegian Jewel sails from Philadelphia for the first time with cruises to Bermuda. April through August, Norwegian Jewel offers week-long cruises from Philadelphia with overnight stays in Bermuda. In September, Norwegian Jewel heads to Canada while the Norwegian Pearl picks up the Philly to Bermuda route. Finally, Norwegian Luna becomes the 21st ship in the fleet when it debuts in March 2026.
Princess Cruise Line
Following its U.S. debut in late 2025, Princess Cruise Line‘s Star Princess hosts a full year of cruises to the Bahamas and Caribbean from Ft. Lauderdale as well as a summer sailing season to Alaska from Seattle. Two-year old Sun Princess offers “enhanced voyages” on its seven-day Western Mediterranean itineraries. These enhanced cruises offer new ports such as Mallorca (Palma), Spain and Corsica (Ajaccio), France, and an extended overnight stay in La Spezia, Italy (for Florence/Pisa), allowing for a two-day visit to the Tuscany region.
Princess Cruises also offers three total solar eclipse cruise itineraries timed for viewing the astronomical phenomenon on August 12, 2026. The three solar eclipse cruises include Enchanted Princess 14-day Mediterranean & Adriatic departing Rome on August 4, Sky Princess (August 8 from Southampton), and Sun Princess (seven-, 14- and 21-day itineraries departing from Barcelona and Athens).
Royal Caribbean Cruise Line
Royal Caribbean’s Royal Beach Club Paradise Island welcomed its first guests at the end of December. Now, Royal Caribbean passengers visiting Nassau can enjoy a beach day excursion at an exclusive club featuring two beaches, three pools, three grills, and 10 waterfront bars. Royal Caribbean is expanding its beach club offerings, opening Royal Beach Club Cozumel and Royal Beach Club Santorini later this year.
Voyager of the Seas sails for the first time to Alaska (round-trip from Seattle) joining her sister ships Ovation, Anthem, and Serenade of the Seas. Finally, Legend of the Seas joins the fleet as the third “Icon Class” ship in summer 2026 sailing the Mediterranean prior to heading to Ft. Lauderdale in November.
