Universal Orlando Resort’s highly anticipated new rollercoaster, the Jurassic World VelociCoaster, will open on June 10, the resort announced today. The coaster has been a focal point of Universal’s Islands of Adventure since construction started. The top of the coaster will tower over the rest of the theme park at a massive 155 feet tall.

Jurassic World VelociCoaster: What to Expect

Fans of the Jurassic World films will love that original cast members Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, and BD Wong are reprising their movie roles for the coaster. Riders will experience an extreme adventure as they zip past the raptor paddock, where they’ll spot the Velociraptor pack from the movies: Blue, Charlie, Delta, and Echo.

As guests enter the queue, they will be surrounded by rock work and landscaping inspired by Jurassic World. Once they make it inside they will be greeted by Dr. Wu (BD Wong), who is showing off the new coaster and hyping it up as the newest “carnivore expansion.” As you get closer to the loading zone, you’ll hear the screams of fellow riders who were brave enough to strap in for the ride, along with some messages from Claire Dearing (Bryce Dallas Howard) and Owen Grady (Chris Pratt).

Once on board, guests will be launched into a one-of-a-kind coaster experience that will take them through the raptor paddock, floating over the Islands of Adventure Lagoon, and along 4,700 feet of track. The coaster features multiple launches, one of which gets up to 70 miles per hour in 2.4 seconds. The top hat of the attraction will send riders 155 feet into the air then into a steep 80 degree drop.

This attraction is not meant for younger children (all riders will need to be at least 51 inches to ride) and it’s not yet known whether the Jurassic World VelociCoaster will be part of Universal’s Express Pass system.
