Disney World reveals opening timeline and details from its newest resort, Disney Lakeshore Lodge

The previously-announced Disney Vacation Club resort was slated to open in 2027. We now have a more accurate idea of when in 2027 guests can check into Disney World's newest resort hotel.

Walt Disney World is in the middle of an exciting era of expansion, with new lands currently under construction in three of its four theme parks. But the theme parks aren’t the only places guests will see new offerings in the coming years — new accommodations are on the way, too.

The previously-announced Disney Lakeshore Lodge is the newest addition to the Disney Resorts Collection and Disney Vacation Club, and we just learned some exciting new details about its opening timeline as well as more information on what families can expect once it opens.

Disney Lakeshore Lodge opens next year

It was confirmed on Disney Parks Blog that Disney Lakeshore Lodge will hav its grand opening in summer 2027. That officially adds another major opening to the 2027 lineup, with Disney’s Animal Kingdom preparing for its Tropical Americas land, also opening next year.

While 2027 vacation packages are officially available for booking, we’ll have to wait a little longer before rooms become available at Disney Lakeshore Lodge. I’d expect to hear details in the coming months too around Disney Vacation Club contract information and point values if you’re looking to join or add a new contract when the resort opens.

Disney Lakeshore Lodge inspiration, room types, and other details

When guests check into Disney Lakeshore Lodge, they will be greeted by “the beauty and magic of nature as seen through the eyes of Disney artists and storytellers.” Walt Disney was a long-time fan of all things nature, with some of his earliest film work centering around nature documentaries. Some of his early full-length animated features, like Bambi, will serve as inspiration for subtle nods seen throughout the resort. Other nature-centric films, like Pocahontas and Brother Bear, will also be seen around the resort.

Disney Lakeshore Lodge will feature a total of 967 rooms ranging from studios to multi-bedroom villas,. Many of the rooms will feature views of Bay Lake, which means we’ll soon have new Magic Kingdom fireworks views at night! The resort will also include new one- and two-bedroom Lake Houses nestled along the waterfront of Bay Lake. The resort will embrace the natural beauty of the surrounding area with features like floor-to-ceiling windows.

The resort is located next to Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground. I’d expect to see similar transportation options to and from the park for Disney Lakeshore Lodge, including a leisurely boat ride to Magic Kingdom.
